Dry Point
Untitled #2 |
Planning
Inspirations:
For my drawings, I combined these two styles for my final product. I flipped the image because I confused dry point with block print. Next time I will draw it as is. |
Process
Experimentation
I always knew that I wanted to create the Hansel and Gretel scene, but it was hard to create. I could not get the feet down for the life of me. The side view of their faces were also a struggle for me because I've never really drawn kid faces.

Reflection
Overall the project was successful. I conveyed my theme, Identities and relationships, by showing how German influence is displayed in modern American society. The dry point was also better than my previous one. The skills I learned to my dry point from my first semester of junior year helped me to create this one. While it does hold similarities to my inspirations, it is uniquely mine.

ACT response
Clearly explain how you are able to identify the cause-effect relationships between your inspiration and its effect upon your artwork:What is the overall approach (POV) the author (from research) has regarding the topic of your inspiration?
- My artwork has similar content to my inspirations because we have similar themes. I just take their ideals to add to my theme identities and relationships.
- I made an assumption of what the master of the house book's work might look like today.
- The central theme of my artwork is identities and relationships, more specifically the relationship between German folklore in modern day, American stories.
- I made the inference that the master of the house book wanted to be left unknown to make his work more fairy tale like.
